Francisco Goya

Francisco Goya with his works has shown that awareness often risks covering reality with a dark patina, rather than illuminating it, because there are demons hidden in the ravines of the human soul that should remain in the shadows but in some circumstances they come out with the rush of a raging river; as during a war, always represented by artists through the acts of courage and the gaudy uniforms of the soldiers, concealing the essence of reality. Probably these artists have never seen war, Goya yes.

After a trip to Andalusia, Goya falls seriously ill. He miraculously saves himself but will lose his hearing altogether. From this moment on, his works become much darker, as in the case of the series of etchings.

He then moved to the city of Bordeaux in 1824, where he remained until his death in 1828.
