Walter Piacesi

Walter Piacesi (Ascoli Piceno 1929) is a painter, engraver, sculptor and ceramist.

In 1948 he moved to Urbino to attend the State Institute of Art for the decoration of the book, where he later became the holder of the chalcography chair until 1975. In the same year he was commanded at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence to occupy the chair of Engraving Techniques.

He participates in many official exhibitions including the IV National of Drawing and Engraving in Reggio Emilia (1953), the VIII Quadrennial in Rome, the Italian Engraving Exhibition in Paris, Krakow, Poznan and Dublin, the Biella Prize for engraving of 1964 and at various reviews of engravers in Italy, of which he is a member. To date, the artist has engraved over two hundred plates and etchings, illustrating various literary works: Epigrams by Libero Bigiaretti (Ca 'Spinello 1983) e Letter to Valeria (Ca 'Spinello 1988), On the beach (In the name of the golden fish 1972) and Letter from Fiume (Editions dell'istmo 1975) by Giovanni Comisso, A handful of flies by Leonardo Sinisgalli (Bucciarelli 1963), Mother by Giuseppe Ungaretti (Bucciarelli 1968) and many others.
