Marco Pitteri

Marco Pitteri became known for his skill in the burin technique in which he specialized.

Pitteri is above all known for the long association that tied him to Piazzetta: together with the painter, Pitteri perfected his engraving technique, in an attempt to make engraving a real work of art, and not just the mere reproduction of a painting. His fame reached its peak in 1753, when Carlo Goldoni, who was portrayed four times in engraving by Pitteri, dedicated the work Il frappatore to him.

Together with Piazzetta, Pitteri made several series of engravings and later a large number of works from paintings.
